Is it possible to change the internal hard drive on a seagate external hard drive for something bigger?
If so how do you do it as i see no screws??
No, the Seagate External Drives are exactly that external drives. They are not meant to be customized after purchase. This is why you are not seeing any screws. On a desktop swapping out a hard drive is no big deal but Seagate did not make their external drives with the intent of anyone every changing it out. If you have a bigger hard drive you can use it in your desk top and still have the Seagate on the side.
By the time you’ve paid for a bigger drive, figured out how to open the external (if possible without damaging it), worked out how to connect the bigger one and re-installed it. You might as well buy a bigger external!

i find it hard to believe there are no screws, it got in there it has to come out…(it might be on the end if not under the rubber feet pads…
if the drive sizes are the same they can be swapped
2.5" for external will fit the notebook/laptop drives 3.5" are standard desktop drives
"CAUTION…. not all external drives can recognize all drive sizes)
i have seen a limit on external cases (empty shells) where they will top out at 320 GIGs others at 500 GIG..
RocketFish makes a 3.5"external drive that holds 1 TeraByte drive (1000GIGS)
it features E-sata as well as sata conections and has 7 in one card reader
1 button backup feature and software
i bought mine new for $32CND

hi mate
yes..no problem… infact only yesterday i was given a 250g maxtor ide drive and since i only use sata drives in my pc,s i decided to fit this in a spare caddy i had … previously it only had a 120gb ide drive so this doubled the capcity which can only be a good thing !
in regards to screws.theres normally four underneath the unit that screws into 4 holes on the underside of the hard drive…however some attach using the side holes on the drive
all hard drives are unified so the drives are all made the same..one fits all … just remember to place the screws in a safe place.. since the screws used in external drives are very small ..
good luck mate !
