   Thanks. My drive just died. I guess my USB port on my computer is faulty and fried it. I was hoping just the controller card was dead but the card is still good; drive is dead. Time to RMA. This is a good reason why it’s not a good idea to depend on just one drive as a backup because even the backup can fail.

    Lots of twirling …
    Lots of twirling and spinning of the drive for the first third of the video I almost go dizzy. I just took apart a new 1TB WD 2.5″ external but it had a proprietary USB interface soldered to the HD PCB. There is a new 1TB Freeagent and I wasn wondering if anyone has seen what kind of drive is in that?
