♦♦♦READ THIS DESCRIPTION!!!♦♦♦ This video shows how to format. IF YOU DONT HAVE THE CD THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED “PARTITIONING AND FORMATTING” search this and it will help you. Just to clarify the many comments about formatting, yes it COMPLETELY erases any and all data on a hard drive, that is why you need the Vista CD to re-install that data so you can use your computer. Remeber to save your important documents/music/pictures/etc onto a flash drive or external hard drive before doing this! Good luck and hope you are successful!

How to recover data from external hard disk with bad sector?

Hi All,I have 1tb seagate hard disk.My external harddisk is not getting detected in any computer system.I tried recovering the data which is very important by using sea tools and other recovery software with no use but that is when i realised that my hard disk could be having bad sectors(after using other recovering softwares i was getting message as bad sector). It is not at all getting detected in anyway. Now I urgently need to recover my data and repair my hard disk. Please help!!!!

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it and then use this program to recover your files.

How much faster will my 1 TB external hard drive increase performance if I use ReadyBoost for win 7?

I have an HP pavilion with an overall system rating of 5.9. It has 6 GB of RAM and 570 unused GB of space still. It’s a fairly new computer still. I’m not too smart with computers but I know a little and am just curious to know. Would my computers performance go up much at all if I used Ready Boost on my TB external? And if so, how much of a performance boost would it give?

Ready Boost needs a Solid State drive or a Usb flash drive. It wont work with a Hard dive. It can give significant increases in boot up time though when used right.

what do you do when my seagate external hard drive cannot be seen on a PC?

I am unable to locate the icon for my external hard drive, the icon does not show in device manager, therefore I cannot access any information on the external hard drive. Any advice?

This one is easy, i have seen this a few times. Pop in to control panel, then admin tools. then computer management. choose disk management from the left hand side. This will show the disks you have and what space is in them. on the top pane is a list of your drives, on the bottom is couloured panels. if there is a black area right click it and choose allocate (I may be wrong with the word there) this shall then "activate" the drive and it shall then be visible.

I hope i am right in thinking when you say device manager you mean windows explorer cause then this solution wont work. This would then mean something else. If i am wrong can you tell me if any other USB items work in the slots?

Also another silly thing to check is the power switch on the hard drive, and the consumption of the USB slots if you have other USB devices in.

Is it possible to restore a formatted external HD?

I was wondering if its possible to recover some files from an external HD thats been formatted from FAT32 to NTFS. Ive also used it to move some files after the format. Any help appreciated

Deleting or formatting won’t make the data in external HD erased permanently.

Those deleted data is still stored on the external HD , it’s just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table is erased (the information about where those data were saved), but the real data are still intact there in sectors of the hard drive.

So as long as those data are not overwritten by new data, it’s highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs.

Try this program called Asoftech Data Recovery. this data recovery program can recover data after deeply scanning your external HD to look for lost data you accidentally deleted or formatted.
