My external Hard Disk and Pen Drive are continuously disconnecting and connecting?
My internet modem is connected by usb. I removed the usb and inserted the pen drive and tested but it continuously disconnecting. But there is no problem with internet.
I tested the external hard disk on a different computer, but it is working properly.
what might be the reason. Is it virus. I am using symantec anti virus. How can solve this problem.
please help me.

Yes I am quite sure that your computer is infected with some Trojan kind of virus since both the thing works fine when plugged in with other computer. It is quite possible Symantec anti virus you use have not been able to identify this particular virus.
You may try to download some comprehensive Anti Trojan Program like
"a-squared" . 30 days Trial version can be freely downloaded from the company’s own website : http://www.emsisoft.com , Scan after you updated after installation. Please do deep scan continuously for two days as it is possible All the definitions may not be downloaded by the software immediately after installation is complete. Hence suggest you do deep scan for two days continuously .

The problem is anti virus so just try to instal avast / AVG
