Will Riyadh airport officials check laptops and external hard drives for pirated softwares?

August 20, 2010 in external hard disk drives | Comments (6)

i will be leaving to saudi arabia- riyadh. i usually take my laptop and external hard disks. but after reading the new rules about the checking in airports, i was wondering if they will check my hard drive for pirated softwares. because i have a few of them. i do not want them to confiscate my laptop and hard drive for having pirated softwares.
To any one who has traveled recently to riyadh: did they check your laptop/external hard disk and confiscate it for having cracked softwares?

no.. they dont…last month by brother went to home country from riyadh airport, he had laptop with him as hand carry and they didnt checked his laptop….only if they have any information related to terrism then only they will check

all the best and happy journey

When I lived in Saudi Arabia (15 years), they checked any blank CDs for software, music, movies and pornography, so I assume they will do the same with a laptop.

Don’t worry, they won’t check your laptop or external drive. They are more concerned about drugs than pirated softwares.
