my external hard drive is not visible in my computer or disk management?

My external hard disk is visible in device manager but not in my computer. In disk management it is visible but has no letter assigned to it and right clicking doesn’t allow you to do anything such as partition. What am I doing wrong?

if there is no letter try going to controll panel and then onto administrative tools and then computer management then storage then disk management. If your hard drive is in there right click and click change drive letter and path

    First make sure you followed the install steps the right way, second, unless you’re specifically planning to partition, usually most people just format it and use it after that.

    The one thing you can do is check the company’s website for newer drivers and install those to insure better compatibility. That should do the trick.

    If it still doesn’t work, uninstall it and try letting windows detect it on the new install.
