I have a Emachine laptop and the dvd drive doesn’t want to work because of a virus or some sort. I have the restore disk a external hard drive. is it possible to put the restore disk files on the external drive so that I could run it on my laptop to recover the emachine back to the original way?

No, at least not legally. I’d spend $20 on a new cd drive. Or i guess you could borrow a friend’s cd drive and hook it up to your sata or ide cable and try that way. Are you restoring because of the virus that you think has affected your cd drive? Seems a little overkill to me…
