I kept getting an error message saying ‘low in disk space’ so I got an external usb hard drive with 500gb storage. Should I have to retrieve data from there, then how do I do it. Please, I’m so very unsavvy when it comes to computers so if anyone is kind enough to answer, please put it in simple terms. Thank you.
It is just like a normal USB. You plug it in the USB port. But, It will come under "Hard drives", not "Removable disks". You then copy and paste your files, just like a usb, and you will be able to access it just the same.
Hope I helped!

I thinking about getting the Xbox 360 arcade console which does not include a hard drive. I have an external USB 320GB hard drive and I was wondering if I could connect this to the xbox.
nope
you used to be able to with extensive modding but not microsoft has released a very strict update that will not allow you to plug in any non microsoft branded memory units.
You could get banned from live if you try and mod your way through that
its easy to tell who does it too so I would advise against it
Ill post a link when I find it for you to read the atricle

I have a Wii and want to run all my backup games from a USB hard drive. This can be done – no problem. I am going to buy a Personal Video Recorder – the type that saves programmes to an external USB hard drive. Rather than buy two external USB hard drives, can I just use the one for the same jobs?

Good luck!
I want to try out Windows 7, but don’t particularly want to partition my main hard drive, but I do have an external USB hard drive I could install it on, but will I be able to boot windows from it?
A Google search finds conflicting sources. Some saying it’s impossible, some saying it is possible, has anyone done anything like this, so you know if it’s possible or not?
Yes it is possible, you will need to install in on the usb hard drive but there is a few problems.
First you need to set your bios to check usb hard drives before your computer’s hard drive.
However even then there is another problem. USB’s transfer rates is 3 to 6 times slower then the sata cables inside the computer. It is suggested anyone using an external hard drive for an external operating should use external sata connections, otherwise there will be lag because of the slower transfer rates.

The HP SimpleSave portable Hard Drive is perfect for Plug-and-Play instant Storage and makes Data backup so simple anyone can do it. The included backup Software runs right off the drive. The minute you plug it in to a USB port, it begins backing up your data. Theres no need to install and learn software; its practically hands-free. Even the most disorganized Computer User will love this backup solution because the software finds all your valuable data, no matter where it is on your computer and, after the first backup, it frequently checks for File changes so your backup is always up to date.

I actually use Mac, PC, and Linux and need an external hard drive that works with all three. I’m not sure what hard drives or file systems will work. Any thoughts? Thank you!
All hard disk drives and enclosures are compatible. The standard FAT32 formatting should work on all three operating platforms. Some come with NTFS, though. Recent Linux distributions can safely write NTFS volumes, but older ones can not. Not sure about OSX, but it’s probably compatible. If you need FAT32, you CAN create huge volumes (read: bigger than 32GB) with it. Just use a third-part partitioner like Gparted, instead of Windows’s crippled one.
My older computer stopped working. I took the hard drive out and put it in a external case with a USB. I changed the drive to a slave. I am hooking up to a dell running Vista. It can not find a device driver. Can i make this work?
help me please
Change the drive to master, then plug it in.
Everytime I plug my external usb hard drive (160GB lacie), my drive alternates between K, L or M when I search for it with My Computer? Is there any way to keep the drive consistent? I’m using Windows Vista.
Drive letters will change on USB devices based on how many different USB devices you have connected. They will never stay on one certain drive letter. That is just the way USB works. The order they are pluged in determines what device is assigned to what letter.
