I have a macbook, im looking to install Snow Leopard onto an external HD and boot from there whenever id like. If i do this, does that mean i could lets say, plug it into my macbook, boot, do whatever im going to do, and then plug it into my imac and boot on their as well? or do i need to install drivers for both computers onto it?
I’m primarily a PC guy but the answer doesn’t really depend on the type of computer here, I don’t think.
No, you can’t install this on the external and use it to boot multiple systems. Just as when it’s installed on a permanent mounted hard drive it will install and build the installation around the components and system you install it to. You may be able to go to another machine and do an emergency restore to adapt to a new system but it’s non reversible and your installation would probably quickly become corrupt.
An alternate and somewhat inexpensive solution might be to buy some USB drives with enough space to install the OS on and install it for each system. You do need to consider license requirements here, though. Legally if you only have one license you can only install it to one system.
Hope that helps with your question!

In this tutorial i will show you how to set up Multiman 01.16.03 or higher for NTFS support of your USB drive or External Hdd.
AT THE MOMENT THIS IS FOR TRANSFERRING FILES ONLY, YOU CAN NOT PLAY BACKUPS FROM IT.
You can use this to transfer file to your PS3 Internal Hdd to play games, no more FAT32 restriction of 4gb files and having to split them.
What you will Need:
1) A PS3 on 3.55 CFW
2) A USB Drive
3) The files in the Description
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0RTTIJM0
a)Multiman 01.16.07 pkg
B)BDEMU pkg (without this the newest versions of Multiman will not work)
c)USB View or 32bit and 64bit Operating Systems
4)USB.CFG file (this is real important, without this Multiman will freeze when trying to activate the NTFS Driver)
Note:
If you do not already have Multiman installed i recommend getting one of the older versions like 01.14.0 and then using the Multiman pkg file in the Description to update to 01.16.07.

my laptop is a dinosaur and doesn’t have an hdmi hookup. I can hook it up to my TV thru VGA, but the quality is horrendous. Was wondering if I can just plug my external HD with the movies on it directly into the USB port on my xbox and play the movies that way?
i think so. ive benn doing this for months with a 16gb flash drive, so i think it should work with external hd

I have a My Book Elite external hard drive constantly plugged in my xbox 360. When I turn the 360 off, the external hd light keeps blinking on and off. Does this mean the hd is on/off/standby mode?
yea
