I Just Bought An External Hard disk..it is only compatible with mac..
what should i do to make it run on windows?

You’ll need to format it with a Windows compatible file system…perhaps NTFS.

You could also choose FAT32 or FAT…it’s up to you.

Open up Disk Management. Go to the Run menu and type:

diskmgmt.msc

Find the new disk and format it.

OS X and Windows each have their own preferred native file format. For Windows, NTSC is a capable format that allows the operating system to read and write data quickly and reliably. OS X, on the other hand, is optimized to work with a hierarchal file system found in Apple’s HFS+.

When it comes to external drives, there are several file system options you can format the drive to in order to utilize it on both operating systems, including FAT32. In addition, you can tweak each OS to read and write to the other’s preferred format.

the motherboard of the laptop is damaged. i have important documents in the hard disk, so it is necessary to use the hard disk as an external hard disk. please help.

Remove the hard drive from the laptop then buy a USB hard drive enclosure or SATA/IDE hard drive adapter cable and connect the now external hard drive to another PC reformat the drive and then use to store files, photos etc on and to keep you important files back up.

One of the folders in my external hard disk doesn’t open.It needs permission unexpectedly.How to open it?

If the error message is "Access dined" or "Permission denied", check access control list. For that in goto folder option, then un tick "use simple file sharing" option in "view" tab. Then right click the folder and go to properties. In that you can find security tab. In that assaign the permission as u like.
