I have a 2tb external pc formatted. Just got a macbook pro and can not load into hd I need to format it but how do I save my files

Unfortunately, my friend, there’s NO way to do it without saving your data elsewhere first.

You could, alternatively, use a partition manager and set up another partition on your external hard drive and just format that.

There’s a FREE partition manager software available on the following web page. (It’s the Home version.)

Do be advised, however, that even using partition managers puts your data at risk so you really should back up what data you need to keep, just to be on the safe side.

The external HDD is recognized by windows 7, its driver has been installed correctly but its icon doesn’t appear in the "Devices for Removable Storage" in my computer.

I have try to use disk managment to assigned a drive letter but i do not get any option for it.
So please help me to sort it out.

That’s because it’s not a device with removable storage, it’s a hard drive. It should be showing up in the "Hard Disk Drives" section.

Again, not a program to fix external hard drives but to check if they have any errors. Not the one integrated to Windows please.

Start > Run > CMD

In the Command Prompt that appears, type the following and tap enter: chkdsk c:

(replace "C" with the drive letter of your external hard drive, but do not omit the colon)

When it is finished, review the details regarding the health of your drive.

When the ISO has finished downloading, burn it to a CD using this software, selecting "write image to file", and browsing for the ISO image (and clicking burn):

Boot the computer from your CD drive (if you don’t have the option in your Function keys at start-up, try setting ‘boot from CD’ in your computer’s BIOS). Accept the license agreement and run a long test (the full scan). If any defects are found, a list will be offered at the end or after aborting the disk scan.
