Seagate FreeAgent.SimpleTech 1TB External Hard Drive Unboxing
Hey everyone, another unboxing with some review elements. I picked up a new external hard drive from Best Buy super cheap, and wanted to share it with you guys. Main purpose is to backup all my files from my PC for my switch to my new Macbook which I’ll be getting hopefully early next week (Watch out for that unboxing). Ultra Speed External Hard Drive Unboxing

Freecom claimed that their 160 GB USB ToughDrive can stand extreme shocks and still work flawlessly, so we tried some of its strengths – freefall from 1.5 meters and driving an ATV on it…
Yup, that’s right – it works even after the test, and moreover – it has very nice features like hardware password disk encryption and TurboUSB driver. Encrypting doesn’t take any CPU time and it doesn’t slow down the transfer, while the TurboUSB driver makes those ~27 MB/s more like ~38, kind of surpise to see such performance boost while changing only the driver.

Strange sound from my Maxtor 500GB external disk

“I think my Maxtor Onetouch III Firewire 400/USB2.0 (500gb) external disk has crashed.. The drive letter shows in windows after quite a while, but not the volume label. And if I click on it it says it cant access the drive due to an “I/O (I/U) Error” and it sometimes asks for a new formatting…
And then there are this little repeated “melody” sound that sometimes occur. Does this tune come from a mechanical error inside??
This is my backup disk for everything and its really a bad thing that it is gone… 
Hope I will find a way to restore some of the data..
Any ideas??”
How I managed to recover the data:
“After a week of hard work I managed to get out everything I needed from the disk in the video. I tried a huge amount of recovery programs until I had to buy Seagates own File Recovery DIY software. Along with the recovery program I used a method of placing the disk in the fridge so it got cold (not frosty and icy. the frost can melt and damaged the disk further) and then rush to the pc and connect the disk and copy out as much as i could before it got warm again. It worked for me. Dont give up!”
