Seagate(FreeAgent Go) External Hard Disk is not working in (USB) DVD Player(DV 388)?

May 31, 2010 in seagate external hard disk | Comments (1)

My External Hard Disk is not working in DVD player… It is capable of MP4 technology……

You are plugging your USB HD into the usb port in your DVD?

Well, i myself have a Seagate FreeAgent 500gb external usb drive
and i dont know about it being capable of doing such things

ive tried to hook it up to my PS3, which plays pretty much everything
and i had no luck recognizing it.

I dont believe that using a usb flash drive and a usb external HD
quite function the same when it comes to things like these.
sorry

Has anyone had any problems with the Western Digital ‘Elements’ 1 TB external hard drive? ?

I am about to buy one, except i have been hearing rumours that the hard drives sometimes break down. Can anyone confirm that?

western digital external hds are JUNK

I have had multiple problems with western digital hard drive products, if I were you I would not buy wd…but in general if you shop a good brand and give proper treatment, external hard drives will last a fair bit and are quite useful.

How do I format my seagate external hard drive to work with my imac?

in seagate external hard drive | Comments (2)

I had the drive hooked up to my PC first.

If you want to use HFS+, you can go to Macintosh HD->Applications->Utilities->Disk Utility and format it.

Just note that you cannot read HFS+ on Windows without a special driver.

When editing footage on Final Cut Pro can I work with footage I’ve transferred to an external HD?

in external hd | Comments (2)

To clarify: My mac only has around 10 GB of space left and I need to edit a 35 minute video. I would like to transfer the video my external HD and work from there without importing the footage to my computer including rendering the video? Is that possible, any other solution? Thanks. And the footage will be AVCHD.

It is possible, just plug in the external and keep it plugged int the whole time you’re editing. The render time will be significantly slower, and you may experience lag while editing. But it should still work.

if i save the program files folder to an external hdd when i upgrade to vista ultimate will the programs work?

in external hdd | Comments (2)

im intending to upgrade to vista ultimate but have many downloaded torrent programs.
if i save the program files folder to an external hdd and when im finished replace the folder will my programs work. if not does anyone have any ideas to what i could do

further to what m says it definately won’t work

In Windows (98, Server, XP, Vista) when a program is installed it adds files to various places on the hard drive (often in the Windows directory) registers dll’s and the like and other things that can’t be reproduced by simply copying the directory back again.

You’ll have to do it the hard way and re-install all your programs again after the re-install.

I always create a folder called ‘rebuild’ and keep the original install files in there for any good stuff that I download. Makes it easy to re-install after a rebuild as all the programs are in one place (also easier to back up)

where to find a cheap external hard drive in london (good quality, cheaper than pc world) ?

in cheap external hard drives | Comments (7)

I search a 250-300 Go hard external hard drive, fast, reliable, not second hand. I want to know which shop to go for that and if there are good website to compare prices (better than kelkoo).
thanks !

Try www.pricerunner.co.uk for price comparison. It has advice pages and links to online shops with best prices. If that fails try www.novatech.co.uk for any hardware, they always have good prices. Hope that helps.

Do external hard drives expand storage on your computer or just for back up?

Do external hard drives expand storage on your computer or just for back up? I need a little more storage for my computer for programs. will an external hard drive add more storage on my computer? i was looking at Toshiba 250GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive and Western Digital 250GB My Passport Essential Hard Drive, will any of these help me out?

It does just what the name says… it’s an external hard drive. It’s a separate piece of hardware from your main hard drive and therefore it will not combine space. You can run games and programs off of it, but it will just provide extra side storage. Think of it like a new, separate hard drive.

Why does XP no longer recognize my Iomega USB external hard drive?

in usb external hard drive | Comments (1)

I have been using this USB hard drive for over a year, but now XP has problems with it. It sees ithe drive, but can’t open it. When I try, the system is busy for a couple of minutes and ends up saying the drive needs to be formatted. This is the same behavior on all three of my PC’s at home, so it must be the drive, right? What can I do to get the data off of that drive?

The filesystem has probably become corrupted Use file recovery software.

Using Time machine on a mac, i want to back up one external hard disk using another?

in external hard disk | Comments (1)

I’ve got two external hard disks and a macbook pro, i want to backup the files on one external hard disk on the other but not the files on my laptop. Please help!

I’m not sure that can be done.

Your Time Machine drive doesn’t work like a regular hard drive. Time Machine does automatic backups on your computer (either scheduled ones, or just when you tell it to.) You can’t use your TimeMachine drive as a regular HD – the whole drive needs to be devoted to the TimeMachine software and backups. Also, eventually your oldest backups will start to disappear to make room for new ones.

What you should do is go through the older drive and copy what you need to your computer. You could also burn CDs or whatever if you want to. But you can’t simply copy them to the other drive.
