my current hard disk is a seagate 40 gb.i wanna have one more hard disk but cant make out whether i should have external(usb connected) or internal.
if i buy an external hard disk then i have to install my os on 40 gb hard disk.it is 8 years old so not sure whether it will run 5 more years.
so what do you suggest -buying a usb hard diak or a sata that fits the cabinet.
Taken account your situation, it would probably be better to buy an internal hard disk. You could then buy a cover so that you can use your 40gb internal hard drive as an external drive for extra space if you like.
I have an external hard drive but it is saying I need to change it to fat23 something like that but I am unsure how to do that and i want it to connect with the usb on my ps3 so I can watch movies. Thanks!
to do that, you connect to a computer and then use format command to format under fat32 argument then plug it back in PS3
I want to get one but would like to get some insights first. Tell me your experiences with yours. Thanks!
So far so good! I have one 200 Gig going on two years, no probs. Newer one, 250 Gig going on 3 months, no probs so far (fingers crossed).
I work in audio and am currently running a Macbook Pro 2.0 gHz with 100GB 5400 rpm HD. I probably should’ve shelled out the extra cash for the 7200 rpm HD when I bought it, since I’ve been reading that most audio-optimized computers have that set-up. I want to upgrade, but I’ve heard that buying an external 7200 rpm HD won’t make much of a difference since it’s not running directly off the board. So should I just buy a new internal drive and get an enclosure for my old one instead?
Internal for sure, external could be slowly if your USB isn’t up to much.
Try putting in a 7200rpm as a second drive.
As i’m planning to get a laptop without a HDD, as it’s cheaper (a IBM thinkpad t40 to be exact), could i install a version of linux onto a external HDD and run it off that until i get a internal HDD?
Or if not, could i just run a LiveCD?
As long as the laptop’s BIOS supports booting off a USB device (and I’ve seen some laptops from the early 2000’s support this) you should be able to. It’ll be a lot slower pulling that data over USB 2.0 than your future internal drive will be capable of. If the laptop only has USB 1.1, go with the LiveCD idea until you get your internal drive.
